Lord Archer has kindly accepted an invitation from Windsor Conservative Association to speak at a dinner being held in Beaumont House, Old Windsor on Thursday April 14th. MP for Windsor, Adam Afriyie is a long standing friend of Jeffrey and will also be attending the dinner.
Baron Archer of Weston-Super-Mare is the former Chairman of the Conservative Party and was a close friend of Margaret Thatcher. As an amateur auctioneer he has raised millions of pounds for charity and is a prolific and discerning art collector. His books are published in 97 countries and over 37 languages; Jeffrey Archer is firmly established with international sales passing 270 million copies. He is the only author ever to have been a number one bestseller in fiction (eighteen times), short stories (four times) and non-fiction (The Prison Diaries). His novels have been turned into screen plays and TV dramas.
Up to 150 guests will hear Jeffrey speak in the beautiful converted Chapel of Beaumont. On arrival guests will be shown into the Chapel for a drinks reception followed by a delicious 3 course dinner with wine, coffee and petits fours. The Chapel was built by renowned architect Joseph Hansom as part of Beaumont College, a boarding school run by the Society of Jesus; it was sold in 1960 to computer company ICL. The venue will resonate with readers of Jeffrey’s book: -“The Gospel According to Judas”, an academic work written in collaboration with Father Francis Maloney, and recorded by Archbishop Desmond Tutu for Milestones; the ambience of the chapel is sure to evoke memories of his work for those that read and enjoyed this outstanding book’s merits.
We hope to see as many of you as possible at this special event.
