Theresa May is encouraging local businesses to get involved in the UK’s first ever Small Business Saturday, which is taking place on Saturday 7th December. Small Business Saturday is a well-established event in the USA and has resulted in increased spending in small businesses: last year it generated $5.5 billion in sales. The UK’s first Small Business Saturday is a great chance for local small businesses to promote themselves and generate trade.

The day has been endorsed by the Prime Minister and the major political parties, as well as many local authorities, business organisations and community groups. Across the country, small businesses of all kinds are taking part and are planning special deals for customers, showcase events, joint marketing with local media and much more. There are 4.8 million small businesses in the UK and over 14 million people work in them, so this is a great opportunity to boost the economy and support entrepreneurs and business owners.
